George Huntington Dies in Hospital Here Tuesday Night
Death claimed another from the dwindling number of Tupper Lake's old pioneers Tuesday night when George B. Huntington, 75, passed away shortly before midnight at Mercy General hospital here.
He had been confined to his home at Moody for two weeks by illness, and was admitted to the hospital Sunday.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the Deshaw Funeral Parlors, with the Rev. Aaron W. Maddox officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery here.
He was born at Vermontvllle, N. Y., on October 30, 1869, the son of Henry and Ellen Perrtgo Huntington, and came to Tupper Lake as a boy. During the past 50 years he was active chiefly as a guide here, with the exception of six seasons at the Big Wolf Lake camp of T. Channlng Moore, and a season in the employ of Herbert Dillon at Forestport, N.Y. Few of Tupper's old settlers were more familiar with the lakes and streams of this sector.
Mr. Huntington erected his present home at Moody in 1921. He had never married. Surviving is one half-brother Gilman Annes of Buchanon, Mich. and six nieces and nephews.
