GIL JOSEPH MIRON - 35 years old.
Born in Valleyfield, Quebec and moved to Saranac Lake in 1940.
Attended Saranac Lake High School and graduated.
Entered U. S. Army 1963. Served in Germany. Honorably discharged.
Started in Police Department in 1967.
Promoted to Sergeant in 1973. Promoted to Captain in 1974. Promoted to Detective in 1975.
Has attended Municipal Police Training School. Graduated. Attended U. S. Treasury Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, ATF Investigator's School, Plattsburgh in 1974.
Attended New York State Police Hostage Seminar in 1974. Certified on Breathalyzer in 1972. Certified on Doppler Radar in 1975.
Attended Basic School for Investigators, New York State Police Academy and graduated in 1974.
Past President-Secretary of P.P.A., Saranac Lake.
Member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department.
Hobbies are fishing, hunting and golfing.
Member of Police Conference of New York.
Member of the Saranac Lake Bobsled Club and in February 1961 was on the cover of Sports Illustrated driving a bobsled. This was the first time that bobsledding made the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Gilles J. “Gil” Miron
Gilles J. “Gil” Miron, 79, of Saranac Lake, died Sunday April 14, 2019 at Mercy Living Center in Tupper Lake after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
Gil was born on Feb. 22, 1940 in Valleyfield, Quebec the son of Lucien and Germain Miron.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Gil will be buried at a later date in the Harrietstown cemetery.
