Harold Newell was a World War I veteran.  He was a son of Lovell Putnam and Katie B. Redwood Newell.

Harold Newell

Harold Newell, 70, died 4:15 a. m. New Year's Day at his home in Keeses Mills. He had been a carpenter and had retired in 1959.

Mr. Newell was born Sept. 20, 1895 in Keeses Mills, a son of Lovell Putnam and Katie B. Redwood Newell. He was married on June 17, 1919 in North Bangor to Pauline Campbell who survives him.

He was a veteran of World War I with service in the Army Signal Corps and a past commander of Brighton Past 1397, American Legion. He was a lifelong member of the St. Regis Presbyterian Church.

Besides Mrs. Newell, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William Leavitt of Gabriels; two sons. Richard and Donald of Albany; and ten grandchildren.

Services were held last evening at his home and at 2 p. m. today at the St. Regis Presbyterian Church. A former pastor of the church, the Rev. Douglass Graynow of Guilderland, conducted the service. Interment was in St. John-in-the-Wilderness Cemetery.
