Henry Stern was a World War II veteran, a Korean War veteran and a Vietnam veteran. He was a son of Isaac and Margaret (Wood) Stern of 53 Riverside Drive.

Henry 'Hank' Stern
SARANAC LAKE — Henry "Hank" Stern, 67, of Gabriels died yesterday afternoon, Nov. 18, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake. He had been a patient there since Nov. 8.
Mr. Stern was born in Gabriels on March 3, 1919, the son of Isaac and Margaret (Wood) Stern.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving for 24 years, including duty in China during World War II, in Korea during the Korean Conflict and in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1970 with the rank of master sergeant. He was also a member of the Saranac Lake Police Department in the early 1950's.
Mr. Stern was a member of American Legion Post 447 in Saranac Lake; of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3120 in Tupper Lake; of the AuSable River Masonic Lodge 149, Free and Accepted Masons in Keeseville; Elks Lodge 2072, Keeseville; the Disabled American Veterans; American Military Retirees Association and the Saranac Lake Bobsled Club.
Survivors include his wife, the former Cecelia Robitaille whom he married Oct. 22, 1937, in Bloomingdale; a daughter, Mrs. Alfred (Judy) Miller of Tupper Lake; three grandchildren, David and Alan Miller of Tupper Lake, and Mrs. Lynda Cihanowic of Greenham Common, England; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Morrison of Saranac Lake and Mrs. Muriel Fontana of Fort Pierce, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fortune Funeral Home and include a Veterans' service at 7:45 and Elks service at 8 p.m.
The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Patrick Mundy officiating.
Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery, Gabriels.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.
