SARANAC LAKE - Herbert E. Boon, 74, of Bloomingdale died Tuesday, July 29, 1997, at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.

Born Oct. 17, 1922 in Saranac Lake, he was the son of Edward L. and Adeline (Duchane) Boon.

Mr. Boon married Lina Marzano in Pisa. Italy on Feb. 24. 1946 while stationed there. He served in the U.S. Army from Jan. 30,1943 to July 14, 1946 in the 232nd Medical Service Battalion. He later returned with his bride and resided in Saranac Lake on Upper Broadway for 25 years before moving to Bloomingdale.

He worked as a plumber for his father from 1946 to 1951. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 772 of Glens Falls until his retirement in 1985. He was a member and past vice president of the Bloomingdale Over-55 Club and a member-of the Vermontville Over-55 Club.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Queensbury and Michael of Saranac Lake; a daughter, Linda Sawyer of Oswego; two sisters, Jeannette Finn of Clarksville, Tenn. and Rita Furnia of Holland Patent; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home. A veterans service will be held at 8 p.m. Thursday followed by a Bible vigil service. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.

Memorial donations may be made to the Bloomingdale Over-55 Club or the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
