Herman Tuthill was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Royal and Irene (Collins) Tuthill.

FRANKLIN — Herman J. Tuthill, 62, of Sugarbush, a lifelong resident of the area, died here Friday morning.

The town employee apparently died of a heart attack while driving a snowplow on Route 3.

He was taken to the General Hospital of Saranac Lake, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Mr. Tuthill was born in Goldsmith, a son of Royal and Irene (Collins) Tuthill.

Survivors include his wife, the former Myrtle Burrell; a son, Marvin Tuthill of Glens Falls; a daughter, Miss Sheree Tuthill of Sugarbush; three brothers, Bernard Tuthill of Saranac Lake, Raymond Tuthill of Vermontville, and Francis Tuthill of Bloomingdale; three sisters, Mrs. Marie Skiff and Mrs. Ilean Simpson, both of Bloomingdale, and Mrs. Theresa Nichols of Loon Lake; two grandchildren, Tina and Derrek Tuthill of Glens Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tuthill was a veteran of World War II and had been employed by the town highway department for 16 years.

A Bible vigil was said Sunday at the Fortune Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial was said at this morning at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with the Rev. Peter Ward, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in May.
