This ‘N’ That

By MRS. ALBERT TYLER

Isaac Livingston seems to have been about the first resident of Harrietstown, having settled in the vicinity in 1819 even before it became Harrietstown. Jacob Moody was just as early a settler, if not earlier, but he lived in the portion of the village that was in Essex County rather than in the Town of Harrietstown.

Jacob Smith Moody was not only the first settler in what is now one corner of the village, but he was the first settler in the region. He came to it in 1819. At that time his nearest neighbor to the north was some ten miles away. This was Isaac Livingston, who was living on the Northwest Bay Road, about five miles beyond the later Nokes settlement in West Harrietstown.
