James F. Hough was a World War II veteran. He was a son of Charles and Grace Ryan Hough of Union Falls.

Crash kills B'dale man
RAY BROOK — James F. Hough, 51, of Bloomingdale was killed in a one-car accident at 2 p.m., Saturday on Route 3 in the Town of Franklin.
The driver of the car, Leon Shanty, 54, of the Harrietstown Road, was charged by state police with driving while intoxicated. He was cut on the head during the accident and was taken to Saranac Lake General Hospital by the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad.
Harold Hough, 55, cousin of James, also was taken to the hospital by the rescue squad. He suffered broken ribs.
Both injured men are listed as in fair condition by the hospital today. Hough is still in the intensive care unit.
Police say the accident occurred four miles east of the Loon Lake Road, Route 99, as the car was traveling east.
The car skidded and went off the left side of the road, police say.
James Hough was born in Union Falls the son of Charles and Grace Ryan Hough.
He was employed in the central supply department of the Sunmount Development Center in Tupper Lake.
Mr. Hough was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 1508.
He is survived by his wife, the former Pearl Babbie of Bloomingdale; a son, Donald of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Cindy Hough of Bloomingdale; two brothers, Henry of Keeseville and Charles of West Sand Lake; four sisters, Mrs. Dorothy St. Denis of Plattsburgh, Mrs. Eileen Plumley of Saranac Lake, Mrs. Catherine McBride of Blake River and Mrs. Alice Facto of Orchard Park in Buffalo; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Keough and Son, Inc., Memorial Chapels at 2 to 4 and 7 to9 p.m. Monday.
An Elks service will be held at 7:45 tonight.
There will be a Bible vigil service at 8:30. The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale, with the Rev. Peter A. Ward officiating.
Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.
