James J. Whooley was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of John and Lenora Madigan Whooley.

SARANAC LAKE — James H. Whooley of Sugarbush died Saturday morning, Oct. 18, at his home.

He was born September 5, 1902 in New York City, the son of John and Lenora Madigan Whooley.

Mr. Whooley is survived by two sisters, Miss Mary C. Whooley, with whom he made his home, Lenora Carwellos of Lake Ronkonkoma Long Island; a brother, John J. of Sugarbush; and three foster sisters, Mrs. Florence Bell of Saranac Lake, Mrs. Phyllis Billingham of Massachusetts and Mrs. Marjorie O'Connell of Catyville. [sic]

Two nephews also survive. Mr. Whooley was a mason by trade and had worked in the area most of his life.

A Bible Vigil was held Saturday, a t 8 p.m., at the Fortune Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial was held this morning at 11 in St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale with Father Peter Ward and Frederick Mader officiating.

Interment followed in St. Paul's Cemetery, Bloomingdale.
