James M. Muncil was a World War I veteran.  He was a caretaker at Trevor Camp on Spitfire Lake.

James Muncil, 63, Dies at Paul Smiths

James M. Muncil died suddenly yesterday noon at the Trevor camp on St. Regis Lake, Paul Smiths, where he had been a caretaker for 21 years.

Mr. Muncil was born Sept. 20, 1895 in Paul Smiths, the son of William and Flora Cross Muncil. He had served in the infantry in World War One.

He is survived by his wile, the former Frances LePine, whom he married in St. Bernard's Church, Saranac Lake in 1917. Other survivors include one son, James, Jr., of Bartlettsville, Okla.; a brother, Mallary of Albany and three grandchildren.

The body is reposing at the Muncill home in Gabriels where a rosary service will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. A veteran's service conducted by the Brighton American Legion will follow at 8:30.

A funeral mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Church of the Assumption, Gabriels, with the Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will follow.
