Jeremiah L. Parsons came to Bloomingdale in 1890, working as a carpenter.  He bought the Gillespie Mill 1908.  He served as mayor of for at least ten years.  He was the contractor who built St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomingdale.

Funeral services were held Tuesday Afternoon at two o'clock for Jeremiah L. Parsons who passed away at his home on Saranac avenue Saturday afternoon at 5:00. Mr. Parsons was 69 years of age and had been ill about a year. Death was caused by a heart attack. He was born at Cold Chester, [sic] Vermont, the son of Herman Parsons and Susan Thompson Parsons. When a young man he went to Troy where he was employed as a carpenter, coming to Bloomingdale in 1890 [?].   In 1893 he married Miss Belle Gibson of Troy who survives him.

Mr. Parsons was a highly respected citizen in this community having served 10 or 12 years as mayor of the village. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church and served as Sunday School teacher of various classes. In 1908 Mr. Parsons purchased what was known as the Gillespie Mill on Main street which he and Mark Clark of Bloomingdale operated until about 1916. At that time Mr. Parsons' sons, Paul and Perry became his business partners and they have operated a successful business to this date.

His survivors are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Pardeau of New York City and Mrs. Robert Newell of Bloomingdale, two sons Paul and Perry both of this place, and one brother Charles Parsons of Winooski, Vt.

Services were held Tuesday from the Methodist Episcopal church at 2:00 P. M. with the Rev. D. C. Abbott officiating.

The floral offerings ware many and beautiful. Two selections were given "Abide With Me" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul," by Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Towne, Mr. Oscar Shene and Mrs. H. F. Titus.

The honorary pall bearers were R. P. Towne, H. F. Titus, S. W. Barnard, Charles White, Mark Clark, Charles Brewster, James O'Malley, Charles Stickney. The acting bearers were B. F. Norman, H. J. Flanders, Albert Hayes, Perlie Smith, Clayton Rondo, Nathan Barnard.

Interment was in the Brookside Cemetery.

Among those from out of town who attended the services were Mrs. Pearl Pardeau of New York, Charles Parsons of Winooski. Vt, Mrs. Maude Wilson of Wilmington, and Mr. and Mrs. Bentley Wilson of Lake Placid.
