Dr. Smith died August 21, 1928, and Mrs. Smith continued to own the property until she sold it in March 1957.

Secretary of National Tuberculosis Soc. Died at Whiteface

Dr. John A. Smith, medical secretary of the National Tuberculosis Society of New York city died last Monday night of a heart attack, while he was a guest with his wife at Whiteface Mountain House, Wilmington. He was secretary of the late Dr. Herman M. Biggs, when the latter was New York state health commissioner, and made his home in Albany.

Dr. Smith was born at Peekskill fifty years ago. He was a graduate of Columbia University and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New York city.

Prior to his becoming secretary to Dr. Biggs, he was sanitary superintendent for Franklin, Clinton and Essex counties. During an influenza epidemic he organized a corps of 100 nurses, placing them in the small towns.
