JOHN RAFFERTY DIED WEDNESDAY AT ADVANCED AGE

John Rafferty passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James A. Latour, at Saranac Lake, Wednesday night, aged 86 years. He had been in impaired health during the past year, but previous to that time had been unusually well and active for a person of his greatly advanced years.

Mr. Rafferty was born in the town of Constable in 1841 and was a resident of that town a greater part of his life, being one of the well known and progressive farmers of that community. About twelve years ago his farm home was destroyed by   fire and he later went to Saranac Lake to reside at the homes of his daughters, Mrs. J. A. Latour and Mrs. George Burrell. Mr. Rafferty was united in marriage with Mary Cahill, of Constable in 1872 and her death occurred fifteen years ago.

He is survived by six daughters and one son: Mrs. Jas. A. Latour and Mrs. George Burrell, Saranac Lake; Mrs. John Butler, Long Lake; Mrs. D. T. Buckley, New York City; Mrs. M. E. Monaghan and Miss Mabel Rafferty, of Malone, and John Rafferty, of Saranac Lake, also three grandsons and three grand daughters, as follows: George, Tuffield and Mary Latour, and George Burrell, of Saranac Lake, and Betty and Teresa Monaghan, of Malone.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, at nine o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Monaghan, and at ten o'clock at St. Francis Church, Constable.
