John Trummer was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of John and Laura (Pausch) Trummer.

SARANAC LAKE John Trummer, 74, of Saranac Lake, died Tuesday, May 4, 1999.

Born in Loipersdorf, Austria on Sept. 15, 1924, he was the son of John and Laura (Pausch) Trimmer.

Mr. Trummer retired from the village of Saranac Lake, but prior to that he was the head of maintenance at St. Pius X High School in Saranac Lake. He served in the United States Army during WWII and received five medals, including the Purple Heart and the Good Conduct medal.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Margaret "Peggy" (Buck) Trummer; his mother, Laura Trummer of Plattsburgh; six daughters, Linda St. Marie of Vermontville, Laura Nephew of Saranac, Jackie Hahne of Gabriels, Maggie Willett, Karla Nason and Dianna Trummer of Saranac Lake; two sons, John Trummer of Saranac Lake and Joseph Trummer of Belvue, Kan.; one aunt, Mary Pausch; one cousin, Frank Pausch of Bronx; one brother-in-law, Tom Buck of California; 27 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, three daughters and one son.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A veterans prayer service will take place at 8 p.m. on Friday and a rosary service will follow. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family with interment at the St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Memorial donations may be made to the Chapel or School of St. Terese of Nicholville in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
