Louisa Jane Bunyan Brady may have been born in slavery, in Maryland.
Her son Samuel enlisted 1863 as private in the 118th Regiment but was quickly transferred to the 20th USCT infantry, Co. A; he died of disease in New Orleans 1864.
Louisa and James Brady split up soon after; he moved to Malone, she remained on Lot 284 SE, adjacent to that of John Thomas.
She worked as housekeeper at Rainbow Inn and elsewhere.
She is buried in Union Cemetery, Vermontville.
