In Saranac Lake, the Levy family lived at 93 Riverside Drive. the house next door to Maks and Ida Haar, who sub-let the cabin behind their rented house at 89 Riverside Drive to Bela Bartok and his wife Ditta for the summer of 1945. By then a widow, Mrs. Levy was a friend of Ditta's who helped arrange the rental. During the Bartoks' tenancy in July and August, Ditta went next door to the Levys' house to play their piano. That piano was later donated to Historic Saranac Lake by Anna Ferree, when she sold the house. The piano has been reconditioned and is now in use in the John Black Room of the Saranac Laboratory.
