Mildred Whitman graduated Plattsburgh State Normal School in 1930.

Her great niece Stephanie recalls going to her Aunt Peggy's (Margaret) camp in the 1960s: "My Great Aunt Mil was there and at age 55ish raced all the kids to the COLD lake and was the first in the water!!! She was a really nice lady. Aunt Mil ran a boarding house in Plattsburgh and when my grandmother Hazel died she took my grandfather (her brother) Wilbur in and cared for him until his death."

Mildred W. Bordeau

PLATTSBURGH - Mrs. Mildred W. Bordeau, 82, of Beekman Towers died Monday, April 13, 1992, at the Mary Fletcher Unit of the Vermont Medical Center Hospital in Burlington.

She was born in Saranac Lake on Feb. 13, 1910, the daughter of Gilbert and Anna (Dyer) Whitman.

Mrs. Bordeau was a member of St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh, Catholic Daughters of America, Court Mary Immaculate, Council 479, Golden Apple Club of Peru, Golden Age Club of Plattsburgh, Windy Towers Club, Senior Citizens Council, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and American Association of Retired People.

She is survived by a sister, Zoa Mischler of Keeseville; two great-nephews, Michael Mischler of Keeseville and Scott Mischler of Albany; and a great-niece, Mary Mischler of Hartford, Conn.

Her husband, Victor Bordeau, and a brother, Wilber Whitman, died earlier.

Calling hours will be held today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A vigil service will be held tonight at 7:30 p.m., and the members of the Catholic Daughters will meet at 730 p.m.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. in St. Peter's Church.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
