Paul Smith's Post Office was the first official post office in Brighton, established at Paul Smith's Hotel.

The earliest Post Office to serve Brighton was in Bloomingdale. Once a week mail was brought by stagecoach to those in Brighton. In 1870 Paul Smith's Hotel became a post office during the summer months, but during the winter they sent a sleigh to Bloomingdale. (Geraldine Collins, The Brighton Story, page 58.)
