The Gas Plant on Payeville Road. From 1909 to about the 1940s, the plant used coal to manufacture gas for lighting for the village of Saranac Lake. (undated) Adirondack Daily Enterprise, March 6, 1999 Payeville Road, also known as Payeville Lane, runs south from Pine Street to Dorchester Road, continuing a short distance to dead end at a circle where dormitories for North Country Community College are located.
