Peter Augustus Adolphus S. Haase was the son and only child of William H. Haase and Marie Saussenthaler Haase, who lived at Pinehurst. Called the "million dollar baby," he later became well-known in the area as an ardent sportsman sharing his hunting and fishing trips to his Canadian camp with many local friends. He also maintained a separate camp, called "Birch Knoll" on the opposite shore of Lower Saranac Lake, which was probably once part of the Algonquin Hotel property, and later became the Director's house at Trudeau Institute.

He attended the Baldwin School.

Bride-Elect Has Traveled Extensively In Europe—Her Fiance a Graduate of Princeton.

Mrs. Peter Arrington of 4 Park Avenue and Warrentown, N. C. has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Katherine Clark Pendleton Arrington to Peter Augustus A. S. Haase of Lake Placid Club, N. Y. Miss Arrington is the daughter of the late Peter Arrington of Petersburg, Va., and this city. She was educated at Passifern, North Carolina; St. Timothy's School, Catonsville, Md., and the Spence School, this city, from which she was graduated with the class of '29. Miss Arrington also attended Miss Fox's School in Vevey, Switzerland, and has traveled extensively in Europe and the Near East. She was introduced to society in North Carolina, Virginia and New York in the season of 1929.

Mr. Haase is the son of Mrs. William H. Haase and the late Mr. Haase of St. Louis, and Pinehurst Camp, Lake Saranac, N. Y. He was graduated in 1931 from Princeton where he majored in languages. He is a member of the Princeton Club of New York.

The marriage will take place the later part of December, and afterward Mr. Haase and his bride will go to Europe where he will continue the study of languages.

Quiet Ceremony Unites Two of Saranac Lake's Most Prominent Families; Engagement Had Been Revealed to Friends

The marriage of Miss Frances Parker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Stanley Parker of Altavista lodge, to Peter Augustus A. S. Haase, son of Mrs. Marie Haase of Pinehurst was revealed today by parents of the bride and groom.The event took place quietly Saturday evening, Dr. and Mrs. Nelson Johnson attending the couple. Eugene Christian, justice of the peace, performed the ceremony. Plans for a religious ceremony and bridal trip were being made today by both families. Intimates had been informed several weeks ago of the engagement of Miss Parker to Mr. Haase. The bride is a graduate of Dana Hall, Wellesley, Pa., and of Erskine and Garland finishing schools at Boston, Mass. Mr. Haase attended . . . [fragment]
