Richard B. Talbert was a World War II veteran and a Korean War veteran.  A member of World War II - SL Class of 1945, he was a son of Benjamin and Eva (Disco) Talbert. For his heroism, Lt. Richard B. Talbert

VALATIE Richard B. Talbert of 4 Orchard Drive, Kinderhook, died yesterday at his home.

He was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Saranac Lake, the son of Benjamin and Eva (Disco) Talbert.

Mr. Talbert was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, commissioned a first lieutenant.

He retired from the New York State tax department in Albany, compliance bureau.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 3357 and American Legion Post' 447, both of Saranac Lake.

Survivors include his mother of Canada; his wife, Marilyn (Kelchner) Talbert of Kinderhook; a son Thomas and a daughter Nancy, both of Kinderhook; and a sister, Mrs. Elaine Leahy of Saranac Lake.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday at the Bond Funeral Home in Valatie.

Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Saranac Lake, in May.

Memorial donations may be made to the Columbia County Cancer Society or the Valatie Rescue Squad.
