Robert A. Gallagher was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Robert and Ola Swinyer Gallagher.

Robert A, Gallagher, 52, of 74 1/2 Bloomingdale Avenue, Saranac Lake, died suddenly yesterday afternoon at the Veteran's Memorial Association Hall.

Mr. Gallagher, a life-long resident of the area, was born April 15, 1913 at Rainbow Lake, a son of Robert and Ola Swinyer Gallagher. He was a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters' Union. He served with the Army's 563rd Ordnance Heavy Maintenance Truck Company in the European theater during World War II and was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors are his wife, the former Mary Hudak whom he married on July 2, 1956; a daughter, Mary Jo; a sister, Mrs. Nellie Williams of Paul Smiths; and a brother, Harold of Glens Falls.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home where a service will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday with the Rev. George Sailer, pastor of the Adirondack Parish officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's in the Wilderness Cemetery at Paul Smiths.

Pallbearers will be Charles Besaw, Benjamin Rieck, Herbert Fountain, and Alfred Beaney.
