Mrs. Rose A. VanCour
SARANAC LAKE - Mrs. Rose A. VanCour died early this morning Jan. 7, at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and had formerly lived on Trudeau Road, Saranac Lake. She was born in Governeur, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Carey) Harmer.
Mrs. VanCour had worked as a waitress at Ray Brook Hospital.
She was married in 1913 in Saranac Lake to Joseph VanCour. He died in 1937.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Grace Douglass of Saranac Lake; six sons, Ralph, Edmund and Ronald, all of Saranac Lake, Bernard of Lake Clear, Ernest of Rochester and Stanley of Lake Placid; 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A son, Thomas, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Keough and Son Funeral Home and include a Bible vigil at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 11:15 a.m. at St. Bernard's Church.
Burial will be in St. Bernard's Cemetery in May.
