Adult center under consideration
SARANAC LAKE — A group of interested persons including a representative number of Senior Citizens met last week to discuss the feasibility of starting an Adult Day Center.
Envisioned is a building with at least three large activity rooms, a kitchen, and rest room facilities. It should be large enough to accommodate the nutrition program, and it could offer daily activities, meals, lectures and a place "to call their own" for Senior Citizens.
Marva Moshier, Ronald Keough and Beckie O'Neill are seeking support, ideas, and people for developing a center.
Anyone who knows of a possible location, for sale or rent; or of a bus or van which could be used for transportation, or anyone who has an idea, a donation or time to offer should get in touch with Beckie O'Neill at 891-4141, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Adult Center opens here on March 3
SARANAC LAKE — The Senior Citizens Club of Saranac Lake will be known in the future as "The Saranac Lake Adult Center, Inc." and will move to a new location.
At present, meetings are held at both the Lake Flower Apartments building on Riverside Drive and at the DeChantal Apartments on Church Street. On March 3, the Adult Center will open at the Elks Club on, Bloomingdale Avenue, and all the senior citizens activities will be held there.
The meeting rooms will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. five days a week (Monday through Friday). The monthly blood pressure clinic will be held the second Thursday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The nutrition program will also move to the Elks Club on March 3. A well balanced meal will be served at noon five days a week (Monday through Friday). Reservations are required and can be made by calling 891-2879 mornings before 11 a.m.
The Adult Center is in need of several metal or wooden cabinets to use for storage. Anyone who has one to spare and would like to donate it to the center, call 891-2879 mornings.

Center to buy building as permanent site
SARANAC LAKE - Anna Dukett, President of the Saranac Lake Adult Center, Inc, announced Wednesday that the former Troy Laundry building on Sumner Lane is being purchased by the Center as its permanent site. Donations to the Building Fund from organizations and individuals during the past three years make it possible to buy the building outright.
George Rosenveld, R.A., of Plattsburgh, will be the architect for the renovations which will begin as soon as possible. The Adult Center Building Committee is exploring sources of funding and will be soliciting contributions to lessen the financial burden. The Center is a tax-exempt corporation. The Saranac Lake Adult Center is a multi-purpose center for the elderly of the area. Among the services offered are a complete hot dinner served at noon, transportation on the 20-passenger Adult Center bus, volunteer, educational and recreational opportunities, and an Outreach, Information, and Referral Program.
