Stephen F. Ransom was a World War II veteran and a Korean War veteran. He was a son of Stephen Francis and Frances L. (Plumley) Ransom.

SARANAC LAKE. - Stephen Francis Ransom Jr., 71, of 18 Ampersand Ave., Saranac Lake, died Monday, June 19, 2000 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born Aug. 1, 1928, in Saranac Lake, he was a son of Stephen Francis and Frances L. (Plumley) Ransom.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bloomingdale-Saranac Lake area. Mr. Ransom was a Navy Veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by Branch and Callanan as a carpenter for 35 years, retiring in 1991. He had been a 40-year member of the Carpenters Union, Local 1042. He was member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Saranac Lake. He was also a member of the fish and game club and was a former member of the Bloomingdale Volunteer Fire Department. He. was a communicant of St. Bernard's Church and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, trapping, cooking, and spending time with his family.
Survivors, include his wife, the former Margaret Theresa Blackner, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1966; one son, Kevin Ransom and his wife Lori of Gabriels; a daughter, Stephanie Ransom of Lake Placid and her fiance Jeremy Colby; three sisters, Penny Wood of Pittsburgh, Ida Ransom of North Grosvenordale, Conn. and Susan Zadroga of Winchendon, Mass, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Erika Duso.
Calling hours, will be held, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A Bible Vigil will be held at .8 p.m. on Thursday, and veterans services will be held at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
A Mass of Christian Burial Will be held at 11:15 a.m. Friday, at St. Bernard's Church, Saranac Lake with Rev. Timothy Soucy officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Vermontville.
