Frederick J. “Ted” Morrow

Ted Morrow, 92, of Saranac Lake, was born on Dec. 9, 1928 in Plattsburgh, when Calvin Coolidge was president, and 17 presidents later left us on the Fourth of July in 2021.

Ted was the last remaining child of 13 to Herbert and Stella Morrow. Ted was a US Navy combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He served during WWII and Korea. He was one of 9 brothers that went to war. Ted attended amphibious forces training in Little Creek, Virginia, and served six years in the Navy as a “frogman” with Underwater Demolition Team 9 (predecessor of the Navy’s SEAL program). Ted served on tours in Greenland, Iceland, and saw combat in Korea while aboard the USS Missouri. Upon returning to Saranac Lake, Ted worked for many years at two Saranac Lake drug stores as well as doing electrical and construction work in the area.

Ted was predeceased by his parents Herbert and Stella Morrow; 12 siblings: Daniel Morrow, Harold Morrow, Roy Morrow, James Morrow, Vernon Morrow, Marvin Morrow, Kenneth L. Morrow, Carlton Morrow, Mrs. Edna McDowell, Mrs. Mildred Kunath, Mrs. Rebecca Gottschalk, Mrs. Emma Betters; and son Frederick J. Morrow, Jr.

He is survived by one daughter, Cindy Morrow Schlett of Sarasota, Florida; grandchildren Brianne St. Louis of Lake Clear, Brandon Blade of Richmond, Virginia, and Christian Morrow; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.
