Vincent Corey as a young man. Courtesy of Mary Jean Corey Pagano.Vincent Corey came to Saranac Lake to cure sometime around November of 1922, and first stayed at 42 Woodruff Street. He was from Brooklyn, and lived in a three-story brownstone with his parents and brothers at 79 Schaeffer Street in Bushwick. He had been exposed to nerve gas during World War I. He later stayed at 52 Park Avenue. He married a showgirl named Violet Klempt (sometimes Lawrence) in Saranac Lake in 1926. They never had any children and eventually divorced. He spent the later years of his life in Reno, Nevada. His brother Herbert P. Corey also came to cure around 1925.
