We Take to Bed is a novel based on Marshall McClintock's personal experiences curing in Saranac Lake. It was published in 1931. McClintock and his wife Helene came to Saranac Lake after she was diagnosed with tuberculosis in Cleveland. Marshall was later treated for tuberculosis.

Eva Leah Levin, a patient, wrote the following "poem" in her copy, along with a key to the true identity of the characters.

Poor little fly upon the wall,
Ain't you got no t.b. at all?
Ain't you got no gaffky test?
Ain't you got a Heise chest?
Poor little fly!
