William A. Lewis was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of Peter and the late Barbara Smith Lewis.

LEWIS DIES AT SUNMOUNT

William A. Lewis, 32, died yesterday afternoon at VA Hospital in Sunmount, where he has been a patient off and on since November.

Mr. Lewis, the son of Peter and the late Barbara Smith Lewis, was born at Constable and has made his home in Vermontville since 1948. He was a veteran of World War II and an employe of the Saranac Lake News Co.

The body is reposing at the Fortune Funeral Home until Sunday when services will be held at the Methodist Church in Vermontville at 2 p.m. The Rev. Jerry Woodcock of the Vermontville Church of the Nazarene will preside. Burial will in Union Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, the former Martha Shumway; three sons, William, Jr., Thomas and Anthony; his father, of Cornwall, Ont.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Permeter, of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Oliver of Burlington, Vt. and Herman of the U.S. Army in Germany. In addition, he is survived by two half brothers, John of Melford, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Donald of Cornwall; Mrs. Eva Legroux, also of Cornwall and his and Mrs. John Brunelle of Malone and four foster brothers.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Leukemia Fund.
