William C. Skeels, another old veteran and member of Brennan Post at Malone, died at his home in the town of Franklin, March 11th, after several years of poor health and intense suffering. He had a very small pension during the past few years. He leaves behind seven children, his wife having died 11 or 12 years ago. We are very sorry to say that he was buried with out honors and respect due an old veteran; not a word in the sermon to show that he was ever an old soldier. He was a member of Co. E, 60th Reg't, with which he served his time, and then he re enlisted and was with Gen. Sherman in his memorable march to the sea. He was as good a soldier as ever shouldered a musket in defense of his country.
