William O'Connor was a World War II veteran.  He was a son of James W. and Ann Callan O'Connor.

William O'Connor

William B. O'Connor, a correction officer at Clinton Prison in Dannemora for 30 years, died at 7 a. m: Wednesday at Saranac Lake General Hospital at the age of 39. He had been ill since May.

Mr. O'Connor was born Oct. 9, 1907 in Englewood, N. J., a son of James W. and Ann Callan O'Connor. He served with the military police for three years during World War II, and was a member of American Legion Post 447. He also was a member of the Plattsburgh Elks Club.

Mr. O'Connor lived in Dannemora and Saranac Lake making his home here with his sisters, Mrs. Mildred O'Connor and Mrs. Irene Garwood. He is survived also by a brother, James, of Buffalo.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funrral Home where a Rosary service will he held at 8:30 11 his evening. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Bernard's Church. Burial will be in the family plot in St. Bernard's Cemetery.

Correction guards from Clinton Prison will serve as pallbearers for Mr. O'Connor and the flag at the prison will be half-mast in his memory.
