William Southard, 62 Died Yesterday

William Southard died yesterday morning in an Ogdensburg hospital where he had been a patient for one week.

He was born on January 14, 1897, in Little Falls, Minn., a son of George and Lucia A. Matthews Southard. He had lived in Saranac Lake since 1923 and was an iron-worker by trade, having worked on many of the local construction jobs. He was a veteran of World War I, having served in the Navy as a machinist mate second class.

Besides his father, who lives in Gray Eagle, Minn., he is survived by his wife, the former Marie Arnow, with whom he made his home at 36 Broadway. There is also a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Fleming of Carthage; a son, Robert, who is in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Portsmouth Naval Base, and two grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, George E. of La Crescent, Minn., Irvin of Gray Eagle, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Ruth Snow of Deerwood. Minn.

The body is reposing at the Fortune Funeral Home. There will be a funeral service at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Monday, with the Rev. J. Reginald Butt, rector, officiating. Cremation take place in Troy.
