Cafe Pacific is a laid back Japanese eatery in Collegetown, directly across the street from one of its main competitors Plum Tree. They have a wide selection of smoothies, drinks, and an array of Japanese entrees and deserts. They specialize in the noodle soups, such as sukiyaki and udon, which they serve all day. During the dinner our Chef Hidemitsu Hoshino expands on their menu to include various types of sushi (not on sunday). This is no frills Japanese food, which means the place is less expensive than their Collegetown rivals, Plum Tree, and Miyake Japanese Restaurant. They even offer free sprinkles with purchase of their ice cream and also free internet access. Therefore, it is not uncommon to see students studying in this little cafe.

The current owner of Cafe Pacific is Ms. Fumie Oda. After Hidemitsu Hoshino's retirement, sushi is no longer served.

2009-04-07 22:50:18   I really like this place for Japanese noodle soup items. The broth is always flavorful, the noodles don't seem homemade but their good enough. I also have enjoyed their eal rice bowl, but I think their noodle soups are better. Its less expensive as compared to the other Japanese restaurants in town, but the flavors are just as good when it comes to non-sushi entrees. —MattHh
