Lou's is a hot dog stand right outside of Bank of America in the Center of the Commons. They serve classic all beef, grilled, hot dogs with all the traditional condiments at no extra charge. That means kosher New York City sauerkraut, grilled onions and peppers, spicy pepper relish, onions, classic pickle relish, ketchup, Nancy's mustard, yellow mustard, etc. They specialize in top quality hot dogs including veal dogs, Italian pork sausages, and chicken spiedies. Lou also sells the standard accompaniments of chips, sodas, and water.

He uses Hofmann's franks based out of Syracuse New York. Lou notes that he thinks that central New Yorkers prefer the grilled flavor to the classic New York city steamed or boiled hot dogs. This is why he switched to a gas powered grill in 2001.

2009-08-03 16:28:33   These are the best hot dogs in all of Ithaca. I love the all beef dogs, and the more subtle flavors of their veal dog. I also really like their spicy pepper relish, which isn't that spicy, and I also like the grilled peppers and fresh sauerkraut. Thank you Lou for switching to the grill, I prefer grilled dogs to the steamed variety. Two hot dogs at $4 is a very reasonable, tasty, and quick lunch. —MattHh
