Restrictions on Medical Professionals
Restrictions on Medical Professionals prevent them from making public ANY information about their patients, including who they are.
These restrictions are based on HIPAA regulations, state laws, professional standards of conduct, and good ethical practices of these physicians, dentists, medical practices, clinics, hospitals, etc.
One serious consequence of these restrictions is that it may make it impossible for these medical professionals or organizations to respond to specific (and sometimes general) comments made about them on the Ihtaca Wiki. The mere fact of responding to a specific complaint, for example, may be construed as identifying the poster as a client. Even though the client made the post, thereby self-identifying, the medical professional does not become exempt from the rules.
Note
HIPAA regulations extend the requirements to groups of medical related practitioners who submit claims and reports electronically to medical insurance companies, etc. Any practitioner who must meet the HIPAA requirement should ensure their page is appropriately marked.
