Wal-Mart (aka Wal-mart, Walmart, Wal*Mart) is a global chain store, started in 1962 by Sam Walton in Rogers, Arkansas. The Wal-Mart headquarters is still in nearby Bentonville, AK. In September 2008 "7,390 Wal-Mart stores and Sam’s Club (about 700) locations in 14 markets employ more than 2 million associates, serving more than 200 million customers per year."1
