This is a web page dedicated to the Liverpool Overhead railway - a truly magnificent urban rapid-transit system conceived and developed over a hundred years ago, when Liverpool was one of the greatest seaports on earth. And dismantled more than 50 years ago - FOR NO GOOD REASON...! - when the city had finally decided to fall asleep and give up the ghost to Manchester...!!!

I still dream that a new one can be built. Indeed, in the event I'm ever elected Mayor of Liverpool, it is one of the first projects I intend to instigate - immediately followed by the construction of the first Mersey road bridge directly linking inner-city Liverpool with Birkenhead/Wallasey and the revival of a cross-river commuter ferry service worthy of the name.

I invite stories, comment and photographs of the original "Dockers' Umbrella" - PLUS realistically imaginatively concepts of all kinds relating to Greater Liverpool's future...!!!
