The Women's History Coalition was founded in 1983 to record and publish the accomplishments of women in Miami-Dade County.  The first book was Julia's Daughters, followed by Beyond Julia's Daughters.  The third volume is in the beginning stages of development.  In addition, the Coalition highlights and promotes activities connected to Women's History Month held annually in March.  On March 1st,  the Coalition holds a commemorative service at the Miami City Cemetery in honor of Julia Tuttle, founder of the City of Miami.  They also honor Women of Impact, usually six women chosen annually who represent important contributions by women.
