Wolfedale Creek runs roughly parallel to and west of Mavis Road, rising at a hydro transformer station next to the 403 and emptying into the Credit River just upstream of the QEW. The creek is heavily channelized and runs underground for about half of its length.

History

Wolfedale Creek's headwaters used to reach as far as Eglinton Avenue. Drainage for the lands north of the 403 was redirected to the Credit River in two steps: first, as part of the construction of the 403 in 1981, a culvert, berm, and ditch directed flows above a certain rate along the north side of the highway into Chappell Creek. About a decade later, with the development of the Credit Pointe Village and Roseborough/White Clover Way subdivisions, drainage for the lands north of the 403, including part of the Chappell Creek basin to the west, was fully intercepted by a series of pipes that empties directly into the Credit at the southwest corner of Credit Pointe Village.

Channelization of the remaining stretch started in the 1960s, as the industry on Mavis and Wolfedale Road developed. With the realignment of Mavis in 1974, the creek was buried under the roadbed from just north of Paisley Boulevard to Isabella Avenue. The pipe was extended under Morrison Avenue up to Dundas Street shortly after. Finally, the headwaters between Burnhamthorpe and the 403 were channelized and buried as that area developed between 1980 and 1985.
