Donner Memorial State Park is a 3,293-acre state park located at the far east end of Donner Lake in Truckee and features Emigrant Trail Museum and the Pioneer Monument, both of which commemorate the Donner Party. Recreational activities available at the park include boating, camping, cross-country skiing, fishing, hiking, picnicking, snowshoeing, and water-skiing. The park contains 154 campsites, a day-use area, and about 2.5 miles of hiking trails, including a lakeside interpretive trail, a self-guided nature trail, and part of Overland Emigrant Trail.

There is no boat ramp in the park itself, but there is a public boat ramp at the northwest corner of Donner Lake that can be accessed for a fee. Sailboats and motorboats are both allowed.
