The South Yuba Trail is a 12-mile trail along the South Yuba River in Nevada County. It follows the north bank of the river above Edwards Crossing and follows the south bank of the river from Edwards Crossing to Purdon Crossing. Hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding are permitted. Many remnants of Gold Rush-era hydraulic mining are evident along the way.

A large but remote segment of the South Yuba River in Nevada County is designated for recreational gold dredging and can only be reached on foot, via the South Yuba Trail. This area is located approximately 1.5 miles above Humbug Creek.1
