Plum was an up-scale and delicious restaurant on Broadway near 22nd Street. Kim Alter is the current executive chef.
Plum closed in May, 2014.
Before Alter was at Plum, she was executive chef at Haven. Plum and Haven are both owned by the Daniel Patterson Group (DPG).
Plum is adjacent to Plum Bar, and there is a pass-through to allow food and drinks to be exchanged between the two.
According to this article and the still-extant Plum Bar website, Plum Bar will continue to operate in its current form even while Plum transforms into Ume. This cannot be determined from a phone call, since the two businesses shared a single phone number, which currently goes to voicemail.
