"Selby had been involved with the timber industry in the Pacific Northwest since he started logging in 1974 when he was 18. He began teaching forestry and natural resources at Philomath High School in 1984, doing his clown act at area logging shows during the summers. "I'm a teacher, but really I'm a logger," Selby said Saturday. "I teach my students how to fell and buck timber and I also teach them how be stewards of the forest." (Juneau Empire newspaper)
