Five Points is a collective term for a group of historic neighborhoods located inside the beltline approximately two miles north of downtown Raleigh. Generally established in the 1920s and seeing growth through present day, Five Points is known for the character of its period and period-style homes, mature landscaping, pedestrian-friendly side-walked streets, and convenient access to downtown Raleigh amenities.Photo Credit: ?

The area of Five Points is roughly circular in shape, radiating approximately two miles from the five-point street intersection of Glenwood Avenue, Whitaker Mill Road, and Fairview Road. While the outer boundaries are arguable, it is generally agreed that Five Points is comprised of the following neighborhoods:

• White Oak Forest
• Oxford Park
• Villa Park
• Vanguard Park
• Georgetown
• Roanoke Park
• Hayes Barton
• Bloomsbury

Features

• The epicenter of Five Points, particularly along Glenwood Avenue and Fairview Road, provides shopping, dining, and entertainment options, including antique stores, art galleries, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, convenience stores, churches, a bank, a veterinary clinic, a coffee shop, a post office, a farmer’s market, an elementary school, and a theater. All are within a one to two mile walking distance from any location in Five Points. Parking is available along the streets and behind some buildings. Five Points residents also have close access to several parks, streams, and playgrounds. Further locations can be reached via city bus.
• The ambiance in Five Points at any given time of year is decidedly pleasant. On Sundays and holidays, church bells ringing the hours can be heard faintly from every corner. In warmer weather, yard sales and neighborhood cook-outs are frequent and lemonade stands are plentiful. In cooler weather, the fall foliage is beautiful, dogs and owners enjoy long walks in the crisp air, and it seems every house is decorated festively for each holiday.
• Five Points features the Rialto Theatre, one of the area's few remaining independent movie theaters.  The theater opened its doors in 1942 and specializes in independent, foreign, and alternative films.
