The Greater Richmond Sailing Association is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote sailing in the Richmond, Virginia area. The organization was founded in 1975 by a group of area sailors to develop a family oriented sailing club.

Located on the Swift Creek Reservoir in Chesterfield County, the Greater Richmond Sailing Association has hosted over 30 years of one-design and PHRF handicapped racing. We feature a full season of racing and social events, with active Day Sailer and Flying Scot fleets, and a handicap fleet consisting of a variety of others.

Swift Creek Reservoir is an ideal sailing lake with no gasoline motors allowed. The lake has hosted several significant sailing events, including the Day Sailer North American Championships in 2004, the Thistle Central Atlantic District Championship in 2008, and the Capitol District Flying Scot Championship in 2007.

GRSA maintains club fleets of Albacores and Sunfish in order to operate a comprehensive Youth Sailing Program and Summer Sail Camp. Reasonable annual dues provide trailer storage for dry-sailed dinghies, with four concrete launching ramps, and ample docking space. Picnic pavilions, playground, and covered dining areas make a great recreational area for the whole family. 1
