Mobile Food Vendors (AKA "food trucks", "roach coaches") are a bit like mobile versions of restaurants - in fact, some restaurants have food trucks associated with them. Food trucks often have interesting and delicious food, and it's a good way to get some variety in your lunch at work if you don't want to keep going to the same restaurants nearby.

SactoMoFo (short for Sacramento Mobile Food) is a mobile food festival. If you want to try out a bunch of food trucks, that's the place to go. And in June, 2011 food trucks began gathering every Thursday evening from 5pm - 8pm at the parking lot for Tognotti’s Auto World, 2509 Fulton Avenue (actually, it's unclear whether this gathering still occurs - does anyone know?).

Yum Tacos! is a website/blog devoted to mobile food vendors in Sacramento.

Since food trucks are only allowed to stay in one spot for 30 minutes, they have to move around a lot. They usually use Twitter to let their fans know where they're located at any given time. Food truck owners have been lobbying Sacramento's City Council to make regulations a bit more friendly to mobile food vendors, but so far to no avail.

Mobile food vendors are regulated by the Environmental Management Department.
