Sapor is a dinner restaurant in Sacramento that specializes in wine pairings with "American" small-plate cuisine influenced by the chef's Trinidad/Tobago heritage. If that cuisine description is too vague, expect dishes such as sautéed tiger prawns with a tomato-ciabatta salad, sautéed salmon with bacon and leeks, lemon risotto and duck breast with barbecue sauce. The current wine list and menu are available on the restaurant website. Diners should be aware that Sapor has a small parking lot, and nearby residential streets are permit restricted... the restaurant recommends diners park in the Cannery Business Park lot.

2006-03-31 10:33:35 I went here a couple nights ago with my aunt and uncle, and really loved this place. The food was excellent—such unusual combinations on the menu, but they all worked (we were six, so we tried a lot of them). The chef was very accomodating for the vegetarians at the table who didn't want the vegetarian option of cheese tortellini. And, mark of a good restaurant, addictive bread! The ambiance was nice—lots of candles, but not too dark. The owner was very friendly but unassuming, and kept checking on us to make sure we were happy. The chef even came out at the end to make sure we had all enjoyed our food (especially the vegetarian dish he had thrown together, which my cousin loved). They are just getting started, and I really hope they make it, so I'd like to recommend it to the Davis community, even if it is all the way over in Sac-town. —JuliaSilvis
