The UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento is the home to a teaching hospital and medical school) run by the UC Davis School of Medicine. It is one of five hospitals in the UC System and in 2005 was ranked within the top fifty nationwide in four different specialties. The entire medical campus is vast and consists of many different departments spread over several blocks. The M.I.N.D. Institute is just to the southeast of the main hospital. UCDMC is the only level I trauma center for Northern California and averages about 4,000 trauma paitents per year, making it the #5 trauma center nationally. They also have a burn center and the PHUR program, which allows certified dogs to visit patients.

Within the hospital are a gift shop adjacent to the main hospital lobby and a coffee shop; downstairs is a cafeteria. The hospital and surrounding clinics have free public wifi. Please keep in mind that the use of cell phones, including WiFi-enabled phones, is prohibited in the hospital.

The Gift Shop is open M-F 10am-5:30pm, Sat 12-4. The Cafeteria is open from 6:30am-8:00pm, plus the Night Shift Grill from 1am-4am. Black Rhino Coffee is open M-F 5:30am-11pm, Sat&Sun 8am-8pm.
