Cricket Frerking has lived in downtown Sacramento since 2001, when she decided nearly on a whim to move there from the city of Davis. She is currently a student at CSU Sacramento majoring in Biological Conservation, and has also attended Sacramento City College. She is active in the Sacramento LGBT community, and worked as a staff member at The Open Book until the store closed in 2005.

Though currently not working for pay, Cricket puts in volunteer time at the Lavender Library. She spends much of the rest of her time trying to balance studying with working in the garden, playing with the dog, and drinking cheap beer.
