Supervisor Coonerty served on the Santa Cruz City Council from 1990 to 1994 and was elected Mayor of Santa Cruz in 1993. He is the owner of Bookshop Santa Cruz and is also the father of Santa Cruz City Council member Ryan Coonerty.
